Tamil Nadu Exports Conclave has attracted investments to the tune of Rs 2120.54 crore that would generate employment for 41,695 persons. The government has signed MoUs for 24 projects in this connection.
To commemorate the 75th Independence Day of India, ‘Trade and Commerce Week’ is being celebrated across the country from 20 to 26 of this month. As part of this, Tamil Nadu Exports Conclave was organized in Chennai by various Departments of Government of Tamil Nadu and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (GoI) to showcase the strengths of Tami Nadu in exports.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr M K Stalin has inaugurated an Export Exhibition as part of this event and released the MSME handbook and Tamil Nadu Export Promotion Strategy.
MoUs Signed
On behalf of the Industries Department, 14 MoUs were signed with the 100% Export Oriented Units, with a cumulative investment of Rs. 1880.54 crores, creating employment opportunities for 39,150 persons. Another 10 MoUs were signed on behalf of the MSME Department, with a cumulative investment of Rs. 240 crores, providing employment opportunities for 2545 persons.
These investments will be made across the state in various locations like Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tirupathur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Thoothukudi, Dindigul and Tirunelveli Districts ensuring balanced growth throughout the State.
Minister for Industries Mr Thangam Thennarasu, Minister for Rural Industries Mr T M Anbarasan and Chief Secretary Mr V Irai Anbu IAS among others were present.
