Actress-Yoga expert Malaika Arora is making Mondays more meaningful with posts about Yoga exercises which have become a rage among social media users.
This week, she has come up with yet another fitness session on Instagram, and it’s about back bending. She has done Matsyasana from Chakra perspective.
“Let’s add some backbending to our Yoga practice this week,” she starts off her post, adding: “From a Chakra Perspective, the pose for this #MalaikasMoveOfTheWeek has a lot of potential. Curious?”
Explaining the pose as Matsyasana (Fish Pose), Malaika says it has multiple benefits. From stretching the chest, abs, hip flexors and neck to stimulating two important areas of the body.
According to the actress-fitness freak, first is the throat chakra which relates to communication and self-expression and second is the crown chakra, on the top of your head, which is tied to wisdom and knowledge.
Simple steps
Listing out the steps to perform this Fish pose variation, she asks her followers to lie down on their back with legs straight on the floor hands beside the thighs.
“Keep your palms near the shoulders & your fingers pointing towards the shoulders. Inhale, pressing your palms on the floor, lift your shoulders, head up and drop the top of the head on the floor,” she says.
Malaika then asks them to arch their back, hands up in namaskar mudra. “Lift your both legs up 45 degrees. Hold the posture for 10 seconds and release.”
She also advises them to avoid this pose if they have a neck or back injury or even if they have a headache.
