Price of flowers in Hosur flower market skyrocketed on the eve of Varamahalakshmi festival on Friday.
There are two major whole sale flower markets opposite to Hosur bus stand that sets benchmark price for all varieties of flowers grown in Hosur, Soolagiri and adjoining Attibele areas.
All varieties of rose, jasmine, samanthi and cut flowers are very popular in these markets.
Skyrocketing prices
The market prices increased as the people shown interest in bulk buying for Varamahalakshmi festival.
Chendumalli price increased to Rs 130 from Rs 100 while Mullai shot up to Rs 500 from Rs 300 and Gundumalli stood at rs 1,000. Kanakambaram rose to Rs 1,000 from Rs 600 while Sampangi increased to Rs 200 from Rs 180.

Likewise, the cut flower Gerbera price increased to RS 200 from Rs 170 while button rose witnessed price increase to Rs 200 and White Samanthi also at the same price level of Rs 200. Marrygold price increased to Rs 200 from Rs 170.
