More than 100 women bikers attached to She for Society, a women-run NGO, dressed in Santa Claus costumes participated in a rally in Bangalore on Christmas.
The participants rode through the city on their bikes decorated with hollies, bells and Santa Claus stickers.
The NGO has been organizing rallies for the betterment of the families of Army veterans.
The Christmas rally raised funds to establish a computer centre in Kolar village for the children of Army veterans.
It may be noted that around 5,000 families associated with defence forces reside across 300 villages in Kolar district.
There are around 50 army veteran families at Belmande village in Kolar. But this place does not have even a single computer training centre for children. She for Society is planning to set up a computer training centre here.
Started by entrepreneur Harshini Venkatesh, She for Society is a unique NGO comprising women bikers. They have two missions, the primary one is to help Army jawans and their families, The second is a commitment to conservation of nature. They are the first women-led NGO doing the former.
