Krishnagiri Lok Sabha MP, Dr A Chellakumar has taken steps to fill Thenpenniyar river water in lakes surrounding Hosur taluk.
A team led by MP met Tamil Nadu Water Resources Chief Engineer Mr Ramamurthy in this connection.
The MP Mr Chellakumar has appealed to the Water Resource department to fill water in the lakes in the villages like Komepalli, Beerjepalli, Thavasanapalli, Thuppuganapalli, Udhanapalli, Kannasandiram, Aleseebam, Nagamangalam in Soolagiri and Denkanikotta blocks.
It may be noted that the water filled in these lakes will be useful to irrigate surrounding agricultural lands and thousands of farmers in these two blocks will be benefitted.

Thenpennai river originates in Nandi Hills of Chikkaballapura district of Karnataka and flows through Hosur, Krishnagiri, Thiruvannamalai, Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.
The river has a catchment area of 1,424 square miles (3,690 km2) located both in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states. Two reservoirs of Kelavarapalli and Krishnagiri Dams are built across this river near Hosur and Krishnagiri . The largest dam on this river, Sathanur Dam with 7.3 Tmcft Gross Capacity is built near Tiruvannamalai.
